We know my husband’s ex is using drugs around the baby. What will Children’s Services do?

We know she is a prescription meds abuser, with a long track record in all hospitals within a three hour radius. She has had to move from towns brfore because of her and her mothers abuse of prescription meds. She has my husbands almost 18 month old son and it is not a good situation. We know she is using drugs again, maybe even cocaine. She begs his parents for money and even for meds. We are tired of knowing his son is unhealthy and neglected and paying child support is a joke because it just goes up her nose. My husband is afraid to call Children’s Services and her end up running. We haven’t seen the baby in over four months because she won’t comply to visitation. We are just tired of seeing the baby dirty and in crappy old clothes and being left with her pill head mother for days at a time while she parties. She even drives with him while drugged up. Has anyone else ever dealt with this and have any idea of what Children’s Services will do? We just don’t want her to run.

First hire a lawyer to get custody of that child. No child should have to live with someone who is a drug addict. It is his place to take care of his child and if he knows she is this way, then stop worrying about what the State will do and act upon your own before this child gets hurt. The baby should be the first thing he settles before anything else. While the child is with her Mother take the police over to get his child, he does have a court order for visitation, so they will take the child and allow him to see the baby. Take your court order and have it ready to show them.

There were over 300 teenagers involved.

The results were surprising in that the treatment group on Concerta after 16 weeks showed no improvement when compared to the placebo group. The study seems to suggest that Concerta is of use at all with this type of ADHD teenager who has a problem of substance abuse. Other studies on Ritalin show that after about two years, there is little or no benefit in the ADHD child continuing with this ADHD therapy.

Doubts about Ritalin and Concerta
As Ritalin and Concerta are just basically amphetamines, there are many questions to be addressed and there are not many answers about the best ADHD therapy. Many parents look for ADHD alternative therapy because they are not convinced that powerful mind altering drugs are the answer and are worried about side effects and health risks.

How come there are so many ADHD children being diagnosed nowadays? This is a really hard question to answer. Parenting styles have changed and society demands that children behave in a certain way. There is pressure from teachers and doctors to find an adequate solution to the problem. Labels seem to make things so much easier!

ADHD meds will not cure ADHD
So, medication with prescription drugs which are no more than psychostimulants does not seem to be the best ADHD therapy. Some doctors and pediatricians actually claim that ADHD symptoms can be alleviated with the use of theses drugs in up to 80% of cases. This is a hotly debated issue and while symptoms of inattention and restlessness and fidgeting seem to be alleviated, they are certainly no cure for ADHD
